Steven G. Thomas

Steven Thomas joined IADF when it relaunched at the beginning of 2004 as Executive Director, a position he served in until May 2005. Prior to joining the IADF from 2002 to 2004, the New Jersey native served as Director of the Financial Services and Agribusiness programs at Caribbean-Central American Action, lobbying, publishing best practices papers, and coordinating major conferences and events on issues such as regional stock exchange integration, offshore banking, remittances, anti-bioterrorism measures, CAFTA, and correspondent banking.

From 2000 to 2002, he was involved in conference preparation and emerging country capital markets research and publication at the Institute of International Finance in Washington, DC.

From 1997 through 1999, Mr. Thomas coordinated the production of several award-winning data publications, most notably a groundbreaking analysis of NAFTA, as a Data Analyst Specialist for Bernan Associates in Washington, DC.

Mr. Thomas graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in 1997 with a concentration in International Relations, Law, and Organizations, and obtained his Masters in Latin American Studies in 2001, also from Georgetown University, concentrating in Political Economy. He now lives in Northern Virginia.

His interests in economic development, and capital market development in particular, are strong, stemming from his travels in Latin America and the Caribbean and complimented by his knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese and an appreciation of Latin American culture. He is also learning Arabic and Russian and is an accomplished Ballroom dancer, currently serving as a Coach for the Georgetown University Ballroom Dance Club.
